The Republic of Panama, through the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), was the winner of the CAREER4SEA Virtual awards, in the category of best „Initiative“ for the execution of the „My First Maritime Labor Experience“ program, a pilot project that started this year and that according to the judges, provides that valuable work experience which recent graduates need to chart their own path, while contributing to the finances of their families.

PANAMA ENACTS LAW PROMOTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF MULTINATIONAL MANUFACTURING COMPANIES

Through Law 159 dated August 31, 2020, the Republic of Panama creates a special regime for the establishment and operation of multinational companies for the provision of services related to manufacturing (“EMMAs”). The objective of this new law is to attract and promote investments in production processes, job creation and technology transfer, through the establishment of multinational companies in the areas of manufacturing, assembly, and remanufacturing.

EMMAs are defined as companies, national or foreign, that carry out operations, from Panama, offering certain services to their parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates or associated companies of the same business group.

ACCIONES TOMADAS POR LA AMP EN PRO DE LA GENTE DE MAR DURANTE EL COVID-19

La República de Panamá, a través de la Autoridad Marítima de Panamá (AMP), apoya a toda la gente de mar sin distinción de nacionalidad al efectuar cambios de tripulación en naves de todo tipo, pertenecientes al Registro panameño así como registradas con otras banderas en nuestras aguas territoriales, en franca colaboración con los Estados miembros de la Organización Marítima Internacional (OMI).

Esta acción es ejercida en reconocimiento a la labor que realiza la gente de mar como trabajadores esenciales, siendo un eslabón fundamental en la cadena de suministro mundial, además de cumplir con los Convenios ratificados por la República de Panamá.

ACTIONS TAKEN BY THE AMP FOR SEAFARERS DURING COVID-19

The Republic of Panama, through the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), supports all seafarers without distinction of nationality when making crew changes in vessels of all kinds, belonging to the Panamanian Registry as well as registered with other flags in our territorial waters, in frank collaboration with the member states of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

This action is exercised in recognition of the work carried out by seafarers as essential workers, being a fundamental link in the global supply chain, in addition to complying with the Conventions ratified by the Republic of Panama.
