THE PMA KEEPS LOOKING AFTER OUR SEAFARERS, RECEIVING 25 REPATRIATED PANAMANIAN CREW MEMBERS

The Director of the General Directorate of Seafarers, Captain Juan Maltez, declared that “The Panama Maritime Authority (PMA) has been able to process the repatriation of some 3,690 passengers and crew members from around the world, including Panamanians that were on board different kinds of ships within Panamanian waters since last March. In dealing with the world sanitary emergency caused by Coronavirus (COVID-19), this was all performed with the endorsement, supervision and criteria of the Ministry of Health of Panama (MINSA).

The 25 Panamanians who arrived to Dock 6 of the Panama Ports Company are in full health. They were on the Caribbean Princess Cruise from the Princess Cruises Company, —part of the Carnival Line Group—, who in order to comply with the repatriation of their crew members of diverse nationalities, were coming from different Caribbean islands, where the company performed the transshipment of various ships in early March. There were only crew members on board, no passenger had to be transshipped.

AMP SIGUE VELANDO POR LA GENTE DE MAR PANAMEÑA, SE RECIBEN 25 TRIPULANTES NACIONALES REPATRIADOS

“La Autoridad Marítima de Panamá (AMP) desde el pasado mes de marzo con el aval, la supervisión y el criterio del Ministerio de Salud (MINSA) ante la emergencia sanitaria mundial causada por el coronavirus (COVID-19), ha podido gestionar la repatriación de alrededor de 3 mil 690 personas, entre pasajeros y tripulantes, de nacionalidades de distintas partes del mundo incluidos panameños, que se encontraban en diferentes tipos de buques dentro de las aguas de la República de Panamá”, indicó el Director de la Dirección General de la Gente de Mar, Capitán Juan Maltez.

Los 25 panameños se encuentran sanos y acaban de arribar al muelle 6 de Panama Ports Company en el crucero Caribean Princess de la compañía Princess Cruises del Grupo Carnival line, proceden de diversas islas del Caribe, en donde la compañía a principios del mes de mayo realizó los transbordos desde varios buques con la finalidad de cumplir con las repatriaciones de sus tripulantes de diferentes nacionalidades. Este crucero no cuenta con pasajeros solo con tripulantes.
